Breathe BioMedical (BBM) is a medical technology company focused on developing an accurate breath test to detect early-stage breast cancer in women. Breath analytics involves the collection, processing, and analysis of breath samples to identify biomarker patterns associated with specific diseases. BBM is located in Moncton, New Brunswick and its US subsidiary is located in Boston, Massachusetts. One day, detecting disease will be as easy as breathing.

Position Title: Senior Embedded Systems Engineer

Location: Moncton, New Brunswick (On-site)

Term: Permanent; Full-Time

Hours of Work: 37.5 hours/week (Monday to Friday)

Summary: The Senior Embedded Systems Engineer is responsible for developing Breathe BioMedical products with a focus on electrical and electronic design and will lead the engineering design team.


· Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Electronics or Computer Engineering from an accredited post-secondary institution

· Minimum of 10 years relevant work experience as hardware or firmware engineer

· Minimum of 5 years experience with product design development

· Extensive experience with C/C++

· Experience effectively managing and leading teams

· Experience with embedded systems design

· Experience with PCB design

· Experience with medical device product development is an asset

· Experience with relevant design standards, codes, and regulations (IEEE, CSA, IEC 60601, IEC 62304)

· Experience with quality management systems and standards (ISO 13485, ISO 9001, ISO 14971) is an asset

Key Responsibilities:

· Develops, reviews, updates, modifies, and approves design plans and work schedules.

· Adheres to BBM’s quality management system.

· Coordinates with stakeholders to ensure projects are completed to specifications.

· Leads and mentors members of the engineering team.

· Participates in all aspects of the project life cycle including requirements development, design and development, testing, release, and maintenance for medical devices.

· Evaluates the safety, efficiency, and effectiveness of medical devices.

· Prepares budgets, schedules, company regulations and various other documents.

· Writes specifications, instructions, reports, and handles required administrative duties.


· Self-motivated with a high degree of initiative

· Demonstrated knowledge of quality management systems for engineering changes

· Strong management and leadership skills

· Ability to work independently, prioritize projects, and handle competing deadlines in a hands-on environment

· Excellent communications skills

· eCAD (e.g., Altium, SOLIDWORKS Electrical)
