Breathe BioMedical (BBM) is a medical technology company focused on developing a simple, accessible and non-invasive breath test for early-stage breast cancer. Breath analytics involves the collection, processing, and analysis of breath samples to identify biomarker patterns associated with specific diseases. BBM is located in Moncton, New Brunswick and its US subsidiary is located in Boston, Massachusetts. Fall Internship Details:
Start Date: Tuesday, September 3, 2024
End Date: Friday, December 20, 2024
Duration: 16 weeks
Hours/Week: 37.5
Reporting to: VP – Clinical 


  • Reviews and summarizes scientific literature on breath VOCs and emerging technologies.
  • Researches, writes, and supports the development of scientific write-ups and internal whitepapers.
  • Interacts with various stakeholders to collect and understand research and clinical requirements.
  • Assists with researching, writing, and maintaining key statements related to the company’s activities in the breath analytics field.
  • Identifies, reviews, and assists in writing new funding/grant opportunities to support clinical studies.
  • Assist in the management of clinical study projects as required.
  • Uses knowledge in science to support the business development team with small tasks when needed (i.e. google alerts monitoring, business plan support, pitch deck review, conference preparation and more).
  • Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.

Qualification Expectations:

  • Pursuing an undergraduate degree in Biology, Chemistry or Biochemistry (minimum: completed 3rd year).
  • Excellent scientific literacy skills.
  • Knowledge of biological concepts relating to cellular metabolism and subsequent metabolic pathways.
  • Working knowledge of research publication process.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Willing and able to learn and work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Effective organization and time management skills with the ability to work under pressure and adhere to project deadlines.
  • Integrity, work ethic and teamwork within a professional environment.
